Boundaries on an acre
A dog that respects the lot line and the gate without a fence to enforce it is the Paradise Valley skill. It is trained: boundary work, a recall at distance, and a leave-it that holds when a coyote trots along the wash behind the property.
Guests, staff and deliveries
Estate homes have people coming and going all day. A dog that decides who is allowed in is a liability; a dog that goes to its place when the gate opens and greets on cue is an asset. Door and gate protocol is Home Sessions work done on the property.
Camelback, Mummy Mountain and the trails
Dogs are not allowed on Camelback's Echo Canyon and Cholla trails, which surprises new residents, and the Phoenix preserve trails nearby close to dogs on hundred degree days. We help owners find where the dog can go and make sure it behaves when it gets there.

Our dog treats the housekeeper and the landscapers as intruders. Fixable?

Is a protection dog realistic for our home?
Sometimes. Protection Work starts with a temperament evaluation, and the honest result for most dogs is no. For a sound, stable dog with the right drive, we build controlled protection skills on top of flawless obedience, with a clean out and a recall under drive, because a protection dog with weak obedience is a danger to the household first. Every candidate hears the honest assessment before anything is sold.
Where can we hike with the dog near Paradise Valley?
Not Camelback's Echo Canyon or Cholla trails, and not the Piestewa Peak Summit Trail; dogs are prohibited on those. The Phoenix Mountains Preserve has trails that allow leashed dogs, as do the McDowell Sonoran Preserve trailheads in Scottsdale, and all of them close to dogs when the forecast hits a hundred degrees. Whichever you pick, the dog needs a heel that holds past hikers and a recall that beats a jackrabbit, and that is what we train.
