What a Sun City dog actually has to handle.
Our Sun City work is as much about the handler as the dog. A seventy pound dog that lunges once can put someone on the ground, so the leash manners, the settle and the greeting behavior are trained until they are boring. Many Sun City dogs also start CGC and service dog foundations with us.
Leash safety is the first goal
A polite heel and a dog that stops when you stop are not cosmetic in Sun City. They are how a handler stays upright. We train a loose leash that holds past carts, other dogs and the neighbor's cat, and we coach the handling so it works with your grip, your pace and your balance.
Carts, cyclists and quiet streets
Golf carts move through Sun City the way cars move everywhere else. A dog that chases or barks at carts is a common case, and a very fixable one, because the trigger is predictable and the streets are calm enough to train on.
Companions, therapy dogs and grandkids
A lot of Sun City dogs are asked to be three things: a calm daily companion, polite around visiting grandchildren, and sometimes a therapy or support dog for a partner. CGC certification and service dog foundations give that work a standard, and we are certified evaluators.

Home Sessions are the Sun City fit: we coach you and the dog together on your own street, with no travel fee anywhere in Sun City or Sun City West, so the leash manners and the greeting behavior are yours rather than ours. The CGC and Service Dog Program adds an evaluated standard for dogs headed toward therapy, support or public access work. Board & Train remains the answer when the dog needs a full reset before you can handle it safely.

I am not as strong as I used to be. Can my dog still be trained to walk with me safely?
Yes, and that is the whole design of a Sun City plan. We train the dog to a loose leash that does not depend on strength: heel position, an automatic stop when you stop, and neutrality toward carts and other dogs. Then we coach you on the handling that fits your grip and pace. If the dog needs a full reset first, a short Board & Train stay does the heavy lifting before the handoff.
Do you do therapy dog or service dog training in Sun City?
We build the foundations and we evaluate to the AKC Canine Good Citizen standard as certified evaluators. For a dog headed toward therapy visits, emotional support work or public access with a partner, the CGC and Service Dog Program covers public access manners, task foundations and documented progress you can keep. Home Sessions reach every Sun City address with no travel fee.
The grandkids visit for two weeks every summer and the dog is a wreck. Can we fix that before July?
Usually, yes, if we start early. Kids are fast, loud and unpredictable, and a dog that has never been given a job around them either herds them or hides. We build a place command the dog trusts, greeting manners at the door and a settle around noise, then practice with real kids before the real visit.
